As mentioned above all the cooling towers are operated in the environment full of steam and water that is why most of the cooling accessories of the cooling tower are made of either good quality wood or of fiber and same is applicable for the cooling fan in cooling towers.

Heat exchangers are widely used in space heating, refrigeration, air conditioning, power plants, chemical plants, petrochemical plants, petroleum refineries and natural gas processing. One common example of a heat exchanger is the radiator in a car, in which the heat source, being a hot engine; water acts as cooling fluid and transfers heat to air flowing through the radiator.

The axial flow fans are widely used variant among the entire fan industries for providing the required airflow for heat & mass transfer operations in various industrial equipment and processes. These axial flow fan include cooling towers for process water cooling & ventilation, humidifiers axial flow fan in textile mills, air heat exchangers axial flow fan for various chemical processes, ventilation & exhaust axial fan as in mining industry etc.The axial flow fans are conventionally manufactured with impellers made of aluminum or mild steel. The grey area today is the difficulty in manufacturing most efficient aerofoil & dimensional and surface finish stability of the metallic impellers because of its less corrosion resistance. This leads to high power consumption & high noise levels with lesser efficiency.There for introduction of fiberglass composite material and ease of processing helped designer of axial flow fans to adopt more efficient profiles with optimum distribution of axial fan blade chord and twist, which are difficult to generate  hollow in metals.  Owing to this fact hollow bladed FRP fans are being rapidly adopted for various applications.
