Our EMA designs meet the most stringent safety regulations driven by the certification authorities (FAA and EASA) as well as military aircraft standards. In order to meet safety requirements, the EMAs can be designed with dual-redundant motors and dual-load paths (ball screw and safety rod) connecting an actuator to a flight control surface. Our electromechanical actuators utilize a ball or Acme screw driven by electric brushless motors via a torque sum gear train. The EMA may have a primary load-activated passive brake (skewed roller) or an electric fail-safe electromechanical brake. The position of the flight control surface is determined by either linear or rotary variable differential transformers (LVDT, RVDT).
