Air entrainer or air entraining agent /foaming agent is an organic additive blended with surfactants and polymers to incorporate air bubbles in the concrete to acquire uniform dispersion of cement aggeretes. It functions by reducing the surface tension of the gauging water and produces a stable air space system in concrete. Addition in suitable doses causes air to be incorporated in the form of minute bubbles in the concrete or mortar during mixing, usually to increase workability and resistance to freezing and thawing and disruptive action of deicing salts. A.E.A. when used in proper amounts increases the resistance of hardened concrete to freezing and thawing and normally at the same time improves the workability of fresh concrete. The entrained air makes the fresh concrete more cohesive and bleeding is also reduced.

CEMWET-AEA is a chloride free, short-chain polymeric compound liquid, highly concentrated, homogenous Air entraining agent, having no chemical reaction with cement mortar and concrete. It produces very minute and stable air bubbles that imparts added plasticity and workability to the concrete. CEMWET-AEA has high ability to entrain ainn concrete and a small dose of 0.12 to 0.16% by weight of cement entrains about 5% air which was found to be in the form of extremely small and closely spaced air voids.
