This physical separation of ports and the special arrangement of the connections on ruggedcom ape make it an ideal platform for networking and security-related applications, examples of which are security appliances, firewalls, network log and load processors, and intrusion sensors.through the use of a virtual machine, old software can be run on new and secure operating systems on the ruggedcom ape, making it possible to extend the life of obsolete and unsupported software.
