This is an initiative taken by the Government of India to bring the disputes arising between the industries to a reconciled state through careful and judicious investigation. Having its origin back in the time of Industrial Revolution, these acts became an indispensable part of the World War II. A voice of the proletariat class against the bourgeois exploitation took the shape of Industrial Dispute Act. Consequently, a number of trade unions were established and it spread to every nook and corner.
This act came into effect in India at the time of Independence. It also provides privileges to the workers of the industries. The entire document of Industrial Dispute Act consists of 40 sections :
Chapter 1: Title, introduction and definition
Chapter 2: Authoritative bodies comprising of tribunals, labour courts and conciliation officers
Chapter 3: Main scheme
Chapter 4: Power, duties and the adopted procedures of the governing bodies
Chapter 5: Prohibition of strikes as well as lock-outs
Chapter 6: Penalties
Chapter 7: Miscellaneous provisions
