India is fraught with many beautiful places which fascinates and magnetize tourists to visit this place again and again. Forget yourself in the scenic beauty of India and have a recreational holiday. But there are few guidelines which a foreign visitor should keep in mind while travelling India.

  1. It is mandatory for foreign visitors to obtain visa from the Indian Mission from their country or from the nearby country.
  2. At the time of arrival or departure fill your Disembarkation/ Embarkation cards
  3. Foreigners who have long term visa of more than 180 days are required to take a Registration Certificate and Residential Permit within 15 days of arrival from the Foreigners Registration Office (FRRO).
  4. Surrender Certificate of Registration to the immigration officer before leaving India.
  5. Foreign Travel Tax (FTT) of Rs. 500 is required to pay if passengers embark upon other countries and Rs. 150 to on journey to Bhutan, Nepal, Afghanistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Bangladesh and the Maldives.
  6. Complete Research on the accommodation and travelling should be done before hand of the places where tourists intend to visit.
  7. Climate of India is diverse. Season varies from place to place in India. North is cooler between September to March. Whereas south experience this season between November to January. In June winds are warm and this period is also celebrated as monsoon season as it brings heavy rainfall.
  8. There is a ban on all forms of wildlife trade. Violation of acts is punishable and heavy fines will be imposed on person who will violate the acts. Therefore, foreign tourists are advised not to buy wild animals or any product related to them such as fur, ivory or skin.
  9. Tourists are advised to take preventive measures against some severe diseases such as Dengue, Malaria, Cholera, Meningitis and Dysentery. Vaccinations like Hepatitis B, Hepatitis A, Typhoid and Rabies are recommended.
  10. There are some rituals in many temples that a visitor should cover head and should be barefoot before entering into temple. Tourists are advised not to be offensive towards the religious emotions of any community.
Photography:-
Capture the beauty of India but not without the permission of concerned authorities. Tourists should consult to the authorities before taking photographs at places like airports, railway stations, military installations and sensitive border regions. It is proscribed to take photographs of historical monuments, temples, tombs, palaces, monasteries and forts. At some historical monuments extra camera fee is charged.

Protected Areas In India:-
Tourists are advised to take permission from the Ministry of Home Affairs, New Delhi, to visit restricted areas. Violation of rules can result in imprisonment or heavy fine.
