We offer steel sutures. 1 1 dolphin sutures manufactures steel sutures with surgical grade 316 lvm grade stainless steel. steel sutures are normally used as sternum wires for bone-fixing (in the sternal closure phase) after open-chest surgery. Also used in abdominal wound closure, hernia repair, cerclage and tendon repair. the wire used in dolphin stainless steel suture is made from molybdenum alloyed vacuum re-melted stainless steel ideal for medical implants. Further the steel sutures are bright, drawn and annealed and has a strength of 700 to 800 mpa.

Polyglactin suture is a braided and coated synthetic absorbable suture and is a co-polymer of 90% glycolide and 10% l-lactide. Polyglactin 910 sutures retain tensile strength of about 70% of initial strength at 14 days of implantation. Polyglactin 910 sutures are indicated for soft tissue approximation and ligation. Polyglactin sutures have mild tissue reaction during the absorption process. Polyglactin 910 sutures manufactured by dolphin sutures is similar in composition to vicryl sutures and has a similar absorption profile.

Orthopaedic suture kit contains a combination of the 2 different types of suture material which is used in orthopaedic surgeries. orthopaedic suture kit contains a foil each of ds 2421 os which is equipped with a ½ circle reverse cutting 40 mm heavy os 8 needle which is heavy duty, extremely strong and possesses very good sharpness which can take multiple bites on hard tissues. The suture is also a special grade of polyglactin 910 size 1 material where it has a greater strength than regular ordinary polyglactin sutures.

Obstetrics surgery 180 suture kit (ob kit 180) contains a combination of the two different types of suture material which is used in obstetrics surgeries. the ob kit 180 contains a foil each of ds 2180 which is equipped with a ½ circle round body 40 mm heavy & ½ circle taper cutting 40 mm needle. The round body needle is used for endodermis closure and the taper cutting needles which are heavy duty are used for relatively heavier tissues like uterine walls. Both the needles are extremely strong & possess very good sharpness which can take multiple bites on tissues. The polyglactin 910 size 1 suture given here has a length of 180 cm and it can be cut to two pieces based on the surgeon’s choice and application. As a longer length of the suture is provided the surgeon can stitch a longer length of the open wound.

Petcryl fast suture is a braided and coated synthetic absorbable suture and is a co-polymer of 90% glycolide and 10% l-lactide. Due to the low molecular weight compared to regular polyglactin 910 or polyglycolic acid sutures, petcryl 910 fast sutures achieve rapid absorption in the tissues. Petcryl fast is similar in composition to vicryl rapide sutures and exhibits similar absorption properties.

Petcryl is the brand name of PGA sutures manufactured by Dolphin Sutures. Petcryl is made from 100% Glycolide popularly known as PGA Sutures or polyglycolic acid sutures. Dolphin Sutures is the first Indian brand to launch Polyglycolic Acid Sutures in India in the year 1997.

Petcryl Mono is the brand name of Poliglecaprone 25 sutures manufactured by Dolphin Sutures. Poliglecaprone suture is monofilament synthetic absorbable suture which is a copolymer of glycolide and caprolactone.

Polydioxanone suture provides wound support for longer period as compared to other synthetic absorbable sutures. Polydioxanone suture also offers far superior tensile strength. Polydioxanone suture is made from polymerizing para dioxanone monomer. Pds sutures provide wound support for longer periods up to 50 days and offers far superior tensile strength and outstanding pliability. Its monofilament structure provides good handling properties and excellent knot security. Absorption of suture is by simple hydrolysis within 180 days from implantation day. Absorption of polydioxanone suture is reliable and predictable.

Progut is the brand name of catgut sutures manufactured by dolphin sutures. Catgut suture a natural absorbable suture and is obtained by longitudinally slitting the intestinal submucosa of sheep and goat, twisting the ribbons and joining them in wet condition giving monofilament finish. catgut chromic sutures are absorbed by enzymatic hydrolysis and starts loosing tensile strength from 18-21 days on implantation.

Polypropylene sutures are blue colored for easy identification during surgery. Polypropylene sutures have excellent tensile strength and are used for orthopaedic, plastic and micro surgeries, general closure and cardiovascular surgeries. Polypropylene sutures are popularly known as Prolene sutures.

Nylon sutures are non-absorbable sutures and possess excellent tensile strength. Nylon sutures are available in black colour. Nylon sutures have excellent knot security properties and can be easily removed with no tissue adherence. These sutures are infection resistant.

Polyester sutures are not subject to degradation and retain tensile strength indefinitely in vivo.

Silk sutures are widely used as ligature and are also used for other applications like skin, ophthalmic, GI tract, etc. and are not indicated for use in biliary and urinary tract surgery. Silk sutures have moderate tissue reaction.
