Selective Pallet Racks is the most common pallet racking system used worldwide. It gives you 100% selectivity for every pallet.   But the compromise is less storage density—you will use more space for fewer positions because selective rack requires numerous aisles and has less storage density. It takes up space in exchange for its high degree of selectivity. For faster moving product in busy warehouse, and the best access, selective racks are the system of choice.   Pallet supports are roll formed channels that are placed front to back between the load beams to support pallets. Timber decking comes in two forms: close boarded and slated. Close boarded decking provides a solid 'floor' to a level of racking while slatted is formed by rows of timber and acts as a permanent pallet.   Wire decking is commonly used as a safety measure on selective pallet rack to prevent pallets or the products stored on them from falling through the rack structure. Wire mesh decking comes in various thicknesses and mesh dimensions. Wire mesh construction also allows for easy identification of shelf contents and prevents dirt and other debris from accumulating on the shelves because of the holes in the mesh. Most wire mesh decking has U-shaped channel supports, also known as struts, to support the load. With this waterfall decking, the wire mesh extends across the top and down the front of the beam to provide more support, and is more desirable in the marketplace. Reverse waterfall decking can provide containment of a loose product to prevent the product from falling behind the rack system.   Lay-in decking rests inside the step of the beam, and wire mesh does not waterfall over the beam. Some types of decking are manufactured with solid metal instead of wire mesh. Even though the solid decking provides a greater distributed weight capacity, it is discouraged by fire inspectors because sprinkler systems cannot spray through the shelves to levels below.

Pushback Rack How Push Back Racks work Pallets are placed by forklift on nested carts riding on inclined rails. Each pallet is then pushed back by subsequent pallet loading, exposing the next cart. When removing product, the forklift takes out the front pallet, allowing the pallets on carts behind it to roll gently to the front of the rack.   The nested carts make placement and retrieval easy. It fills the storage cube with product, not aisles. A Pushback rack system lets you store pallets 2 to 5 deep while retaining easy access to a variety of different SKUs.

Flow Storage consists of two elements: a static rack structure and dynamic flow rails. The flow rails are atrack/roller system set at a decline along the length of the rack. Flow rails allow loads to move by gravity from the loading end to the unloading end. Each flow lane includes self-energized speed controllers (brakes) to gently control the speed of movement within the flow lanes. As a load is removed, the loads behind it move forward to the unloading position. The flow system depth, height, and width are limited only by the size of your facility and the capabilities of your material handling equipment.

In industrial settings, mezzanines may be installed (rather than built as part of the structure) in high-ceilinged spaces such as warehouses. These semi-permanent structures structures are usually free-standing, can be dismantled and relocated, and are sold commercially. Industrial mezzanine structures can be supported by structural steel columns and elements, or by racks or shelves. Depending on the span and the run of the mezzanine, different materials may be used for the mezzanine's deck. Some industrial mezzanines may also include enclosed, paneled office space on their upper levels.   Industrial mezzanines are typically not constructed of wood. When they are, the mezzanine is usually used solely for storage.   An architect is sometimes hired to help determine whether the floor of the building can support a mezzanine (and how heavy the mezzanine may be), and to design the appropriate mezzanine.   Mezzanine floors enable the working height of a space to be utilised to its full potential by doubling or tripling the surface area. Drive-in are storage rack configurations that allow the forklift to drive directly into the lane of stacked rows (called a bay). The difference between a drivein and a drive-thru pallet rack system is simply whether the bays have an entry at only one end, or at both ends. Drive-in rack systems use a common entry and exit, while drive-thru systems have entry points at either end of the bay.   Because a drive-in racking system has only one entrance, it uses what is called a LIFO (last in, first out) storage method. With only one entrance, the last pallet put into a row is necessarily the first one to be taken out. A drivethru storage system, with two different entry points, can also use a FIFO (first in, first out) storage method. With a FIFO system, pallets are loaded in one end and are pushed back to the other end, where they are then at the front of the row on the opposite side. The first pallet put into such a row is the first one taken out at the other end.

Cantilever racks are a superior storage solution in many situations. Compared to standard pallet racks, cantilever racks are:   Easier to use: With no front column in the way, cantilever racks are faster to load and unload, lowering handling time and costs.   More flexible: Loads may be placed anywhere along the entire length of a row on a cantilever rack. More compact: The lack of a front column saves horizontal space normally lost to rack structure. Handling clearance is also more abundant.   More selective: Any load or storage slot is immediately accessible.   More economical: Both reduced handling times and increased space utilization make cantilever racks more cost-efficient. Additionally, cantilever racks become more economical as load length increases, while standard pallet racks increase in costs.   More adaptable: Cantilever racks can store nearly any type of load. They are especially useful for storing long, bulky, or oddly-shaped loads.   Characteristics There is practically no limit to the length of cantilever arm racking. This racking for the storage of long goods such as poles, pipes and boards. Each racking upright is equipped with several cantilever arms (supports) for carrying the load. The distance between uprights depends on the weight of the goods to be stored. For long goods of any type.
