High current on a load affects electrical motors (smaller capacity motors upto 7.5 H.P) and devices in the following ways: • High current causes premature failure of winding in electrical motors leading to their damage or higher losses. • The higher losses of electrical motors in turn leads to damage of cables, switches, transformers and other associated equipment. • In order to ensure smooth and continuous working of electrical motors, overload relays are generally set at 20% higher setting. With the installation of the stabilizer and maintaining 390/400 volts, the motor will operate smoothly. It will draw 15 to 20% lesser current and correspondingly the relay setting can be reduced by 15 to 20%. When single phasing occurs, the relay will trip in 40 to 50 seconds.
