Principle : The equipment consists of a conical shaped body fabricated from MS plate and internally cladded with SS 304 one operating door. The door is provided with one light rejects. A tangential inlet nozzle is given on the main body for the pulp inflow. In accept chamber is attached to the main body for the collection of accepted pulp. This chamber is provided with a nozzle at the top for getting the accepted pulp and another nozzle at the bottom for cleaning purpose. In between the accepted chamber and main body a screen made from SS 304 material is provided. The overall functioning of the equipment is done by a SS 410 / CA 40 casted rotor. The accept is collected in the accept chamber whereas the light rejects are taken in the secondary screen for fibre recovery. The shaft is mounted on 2 bearings in a CI bearing housing. A stuffing box arrangement having GM bushes and gland is provided for the proper guiding and sealing of the shaft. The equipment is driven by an electric motor through flat belt pulley. The rotor and screen (2-4 mm perforation) are made of stainless steel. A forced vortex is formed in the turbo by the rotor. Heavy contraries are carried outwards by centrifugal force into the junk trap while light contraries get collected in the centre which travels out through the light reject nozzle. The accepted stock passes through the screen fitted behind the rotor.

The Turbo Separator uses centrifugal forces to stratify the stock into three regions, heavy rejects, light rejects and acceptable materials (accepts/fibres). Heavy rejects are forced against the outside wall, light rejects remain in the centre, and acceptable materials (accepts/fibres) migrate to the region in between. Heavy rejects exit the Turbo Separator via a tangential pipe at the top of the machine. This enables them to exit at high pressure. No pump is needed to move them to the High/medium/low Density Cleaner (Secondary fibre recovery device).
