Education and Children – Life with education is a life with opportunity. We help children, especially the most vulnerable, access quality education and attain functional levels of literacy, numeracy and essential life skills. When children can read, they can better advocate for their rights and help provide for their families. CFD works to help girls’ complete primary education and access formal schools. We also help nurture leadership skills amongst girls and offer alternative education opportunities for women and girls who have never been enrolled or have dropped out early from school.

CFD focuses on the empowerment of women and girls because they are disproportionately affected by poverty and discriminations; and suffer abuse and violations in the realization of their rights, entitlements and access and control over resources. Also, experience shows that, when equipped with the proper resources, women have the power to help whole families and entire communities overcome poverty, marginalisation and social injustice.

CFD promotes the Integrated Natural Resources Management (INRM) of land, water, forest and biological resources to achieve and sustain potential agricultural productivity. INRM combines managing the use of natural resources along with their conservation and sustenance programmes comprise of enhancing productivity in agriculture; diversifying into new crops; setting up irrigation systems; and instituting entirely new ways of managing the natural resource base.
