Efficient use of energy enables commercial and industrial facilities to minimize production costs, increase profits, and stay competitive. The majority of electrical energy consumed in most industrial facilities is used to run electric motors. Energy-efficient motors now available are typically from 2 to 6 percent more efficient than their standard counterparts. This efficiency Improvement translates into substantial energy and money savings. CG offers an entire range of energy efficient motors as per the latest IEC, IS & NEMA standards and also complies with the efficiency norms of each geographies.

CG manufactures a range of motors for vacuum pumps that are used in various laboratory & industrial applications customized as per the specifications of the equipment manufacturer. These motors are designed to be extremely reliable and quiet with minimal vibration. Currently motors are being supplied in the range of 0.33HP to 1HP in Drip Proof (DP), Totally Enclosed (TE) & Totally Enclosed Fan Cooled (TEFC) enclosures. Electrically offered in Capacitor Start Capacitor Run (CSCR), Capacitor Start Induction Run (CSIR), Permanent Split Capacitor (PSC) and Split Phase and three-phase, these motors are in rolled steel powder coated shell & cast iron body construction.

Crompton Greaves (CG) is pioneer in introducing Vacuum Interrupters (VI) and Vacuum Technology in India. In Technical collaboration with then Westinghouse, USA, CG started Vacuum Interrupter manufacturing way back in 1985-86 at its State of the art manufacturing facility at Aurangabad in Maharashtra State. In alignment with CG’s legacy to build market leadership through SMART Solutions, CG-Aurangabad developed pioneering concept of Vacuum Contactors (VC) with Epoxy Encapsulated Vacuum Interrupters (VI). CG is a market leader in Vacuum Interrupter Technology in India and a major global player. VI is the ‘heart’ of VC and use of own make vacuum interrupters in VC gives CG an added advantage.

Power distribution area has been one of the strongholds for CG Medium Voltage (MV) Switchgear Division since its inception in 1985. We also offer Mid Mounted Switchgear (Calix VCB in CG-Novitas panel) with lesser footprint in 12kV and 24kV voltage level. A Unitized Substation (USS) is a nutshell product comprising of various substation equipments, housed inside a metal enclosure, such as a step down transformer, a Vacuum Circuit Breaker (VCB) or a Ring Main Unit (RMU) on High Voltage (HV) side and Low Voltage (LV) distribution panel in LV side compartment.

We offer salient pole and cylindrical pole generators, which are custom built and find applications in various industries like steel, cement, fertilizer, chemical, textile, float glass, etc. for captive power generation using, steam, gas and hydro turbines.

The Screen Protected Drip Proof (SPDP) are high quality motors in Squirrel Cage and slip ring types. These motors are suitable for all types of industrial drives, mills and pumps. In SPDP motors, the external air is sucked inside through a wire mesh screen by means of a shaft mounted fan. The air suctioned through the louvers traverse along the length of the motor and is expelled at the opposite end through a wire mesh screen. UD series motors are manufactured in UDR, UDC and VUDC series. All these are continuously rated for S1 duty as per IS: 325 IEC 60034-7 standards. These motors are suitable for 50 Hz, 3-phase supply. These motors are offered with IP 23 degree of protection. Thus adequate protection is provided against dripping liquids and falling objects as specified in IS: 4691 IEC 34-5. The mounting dimensions are as per IS: 1231 IEC-60072 standards.

CG has Low Voltage Slip Ring electric motors ranging from 3.7 kW to 350 kW in both TEFC (IP55) & Drip Proof (IP23) construction. These motors are designed with new Slip Ring and brush gear arrangement for trouble free operations and long lasting brush life , Slip Ring are moulded in epoxy-based insulation and excellent stability in operation at high temperature and have very good anti tracking property .

CG single phase alternators are designed to meet the customer requirements in remote as well as urban areas where there is requirement of uninterrupted power supply. Robust rolled thick steel body with reliable slip ring type construction and efficient design provides power at Unity power factor. An electronic circuit is used for the load regulation.

To improve the stability and efficiency of energy transmission, shunt reactors are employed in the system. Depending on the load pattern of the line and the balance of reactive power, these are placed in a parallel configuration to compensate for the capacitive currents common to long transmission lines or cables. Shunt reactors are similar to a power transformer in winding design and insulation. For optimum reliabilitycost efficiency and minimum life-cycle cost as well as in-rush currents, a simple and robust build-up is adopted. This is most cost efficient means to compensate the capacitive generation in order to sustain performance under severe cold, severe heat, lightning and earthquake, as well as violent fluctuations in voltage. Due to the use of latest computerized design techniques, each shunt reactor is a result of creative collaboration between project team and customer representatives. Shunt reactors combine high efficiency and low life-cycle costs to cut transmission costs and boost your bottom line. We offer a wide range of products for single phase and three phase reactors considering transport limitations in some countries and also as per customer requirements.

With versatile experience over the years, CG has developed a highly standardized range of motors dedicated specifically to the Re-rolling mill industry. Re-rolling mill duty motors are used to drive the re-rolling mill where hot steel billets are rolled in to RODS, FLAT BARS, RAILS, CHANNELS, ANGLES and SHEETS etc. The working of these mills is under demanding conditions of widely fluctuating loads and sudden overloads lasting for few seconds. We are manufacturing Re-rolling mill duty induction motors that are compact and robust. The simple construction of these motors requires minimal attention and provides greater reliability.

The CG Feeder Remote Terminal Unit (FRTU) is an intelligent electronic device designed for use in feeder automation. The device acquires data from the feeders & transfers it to the main Control Station. FRTU is highly modular, featuring flexibility to interchange its IO modules which provides an advantage of easy maintenance & upgradation. It provides wide range of communication interfaces including Ethernet, RS 232 & RS 485. FRTU supports multiple industry standard protocols, including IEC 60870- 5-101 Slave, IEC 60870-5-104 Slave, IEC 60870-5-103 Master & Modbus-RTU Master, so that a wide range of IEDs can be integrated & the required data is communicated back to the main Control Centres. The FRTU is ideally suited to Distribution Automation where it can monitor groundmounted RMUs as well as offering a costeffective solution for extensible MVLV switchgear applications and LV feeder monitoring.

The voltage regulators are normally connected to the line end of transmission system to provide additional voltage regulation. The voltage regulators are equipped with wide range voltage variation of on load tap changer. The transformers consist of 2 small active parts (shunt and series transformer). Shunt transformer is connected parallel to the system voltage, and the serie transformer is connected serial to the system to boost and buck the system voltage

CG offers converter transformers, which operate at the fundamental frequency of an alternating system. These are designed for one or more output windings connected to the rectifier loads. We offer Induction Thyristor duty transformers suitable for 3 Pulse 6 Pulse 12 Pulse 18 Pulse drive configurations. It is possible to make major changes in the output current and voltage by using a transformer with a different rectifier configuration. Extra care is taken in design and manufacture of Induction Thyristor transformers due to the harmonics that are likely to appear in the transformer windings. These harmonics are likely to increase the stray losses in the transformer.

Railway signaling division is engaged in the business of railway signaling equipment of wider applications of AC & DC supply system. Anticipating a future where the need of the railways for signaling equipment with quality & reliability will be very high, CG has set up a plant in 1988 for manufacturing of railway signaling equipment. The plant is situated in the central part of India, near Indore and well connected to all metros In the past 22 years, the division has undergone a dramatic transformation in terms of the product portfolio and capabilities. With engineering & design excellence, we have a strong presence globally, and is the number One preferred source for Indian Railways.

Emotron DCM automatically adjusts pump operation to water flow, without external water level sensors. It also prevents dry-running and other damage, reducing maintenance and downtime. Typical applications are drainage on construction sites, in quarries and mines. Optimizes pump operation Emotron DCM immediately stops the submersible pump when it starts to draw air because of a lack of water, and restarts it when there is water again. Pump operation is adapted to water flow, minimizing energy and maintenance costs.

Mobile substations are fully equipped electrical substations mounted on semi-trailers. Rapid integration into the network and the ability to use them at various locations are the most important advantages of these mobile substations. Mobile substations are used in emergency situations, as a temporary solution for the supply of electric power or as substitutes for air insulated or gas insulated substations. In combination with the application of Hybrid or Nomex® insulation in the mobile transformer, the mobile substation is able to handle power ratings up to 80 MVA and 245 kV.

CG started manufacturing metal oxide, station type, line discharge Class-5 Surge arresters in 1994. These surge arresters are mainly used for protection of transformers and reactors for 8001200kV Systems.

India accounts for nearly 80-90% of diamonds polished in the world. CG has been closely associated with the diamond polishing industry for over two decades. We have been supplying single as well as three phase induction motors in rolled steel shell and cast iron body construction to equipment manufacturers for diamond cutting and polishing industry. These include Capacitor Start Capacitor Run (CSCR), Capacitor Start Induction Run (CSIR), Permanent Split Capacitor (PSC) and Split Phase in single-phase category. We supply both reversible as well as non-reversible motors against specifications of the equipment manufacturer.

CG Power Systems produces several thousand single phase pole mount transformers every year. Single phase pole mount distribution transformers are used mainly in the United Kingdom and Ireland, where some suburban and rural electricity distribution is by single-phase overhead lines to sites close to consumers. The simplest basic tank design used is the cylindrical tank configuration with HV outdoor shedded bushings on the tank cover and LV bushings also on the tank cover or alternatively on the tank side. Arcing horns or lightning arresters can be fitted as required.
