The Wesmec flanged thermowell is used when pressure, high velocity and corrosive process media exist. This serves to isolate and protect the sensing instrument, and permits removal of a sensing instrument without shutting down the process. Applications: • Syphons for steam services • Pigtail for vertical installations • Coil for horizontal installations   Description : Pressure gauge syphons are used to protect the pressure gauge from the effect of hot pressure media such as steam and also to reduce the effect of rapid pressure surges. The pressure medium forms a condensate and is collected inside the coil or pigtail portion of the syphon. The conden- sate prevents the hot media from coming in direct contact with the pressure instrument. Although, WESMEC is not tubing manufacturer, we feel it is our duty to impress on our customers the vital importance of careful selection of high quality tubing in order to install safe and leak free systems. Selection of tube is based on materials, hardness, wall thickness and surface finish. The ASTM specification for various tubes covers material, hardness and wall thickness. Finished tubes shall be reasonably straight and have smooth ends free from burrs. They shall be free from defects and shall have workman like finish.
