Ultra Filteration (UF) – Membrane Technology We make the Ultrafiltration Units of sizes and capacities from 500 LPH- 30,000 LPH as a modules.It is known fact about the Ultrafilteration that the porocity of 1.2mm-1.3mm dia Hollow fibers ( PES, PVDF ect.) is about 0.1 to 0.01 micron though there are membranes which ranges even lower than 0.01 microns. The uses of UF is mainly a part of Pre treatment  for the Down stream units of RO systems.The UF works on either Dead End or Cross flow type configuration and also as Out to In or In to Out type configuration.Probable application area in the water Purification is for removal of Bacteria/virus micro organisms, as well as the fine suspended particles such as color/dyes ect.Also the removal of Colloidal particles such as Colloidal Silica in the boiler feed water, The dairy industry uses UF technic for Whey Proteins separation.Molecular weight cut off is the criteria for the selection of type of membranes.Along with the hollow fine fiber type membranes , the Spiral wound ( similar to Reverse Osmosis) membranes are also actively used in the UF plants.The UF needs periodic (every 40-50 minutes depending on the feed water conditions ) Backwashing of 30-50 seconds. Which is of course done automatically. The in side to Out configuration mostly needs The periodic Chemical Enhanced Backwashing or CEB, with High pH  (10-11)  Sodium Hydroxide plus Hypo Chlorite, followed by Low pH of ( 3-4) with help  Citric acid or Dilute HCl. It is observed as per the design guidelines that The Out to In Configuration calls for Air Scouring and Hypo Backwashing instead of CEB. The CIP ( Cleaning in Place) is done generally for both, IN-OUT or OUT-IN configurations. Very similar to that of RO CIP cleaning procedure to Regain Flux.

Sand and Activated Carbon filters; The Sand filters Today the modern industry standard of  Industrial Water Filtration is Pressure Sand Filter or Dual media Filter consisting of  Carbon Steel, FRP, CS/RL ( Rube lined Carbon Steel) or even a SS material.The Filter is generally having Shell and Dished end arrangements, The Definite Advantage of Torrispherical or Ellipsoidal Dish end is , the great reduction in the Dish Thickness. We make these filter vessels in MS or MS (CS) R/L. Ranging in size from 500 mm Diameter up to 3000 mm Diameter.The Height of shell generally is in the range of  1500 mm to 2300 mm. the Media  for Filtration is Sand or Sand + Anthracite. The Purpose of Sand Media or Dual Media filter is to remove the suspended particles ranging form  1-2mm till 300 micron for example. ( Particularly Macro size visible particles)The design Velocities are : 8m/hr till 25m/hr* The inlet quality of Raw water may have turbidity range of  30-40 NTU, ( Nephlometric Turbidity Units)The Filters are subjected to get accumulated with the turbidity load, as the process is mostly DEAD END type, hence periodically the media is Backwashed with the help of AIR + Water Or Water Alone.The need for backwashing would be known from the Pressure Drop  that has caused due to Accumulation of Suspended solids.The Back Wash Could be set as per the Operation Cycle Duration Or on Pressure Drop.The output quality is generally Less than 5 NTU of suspended solids Activated Carbon Filter: The Activated Carbon Filters are constructionally very similar to Sand Filters except that the Media is under bed of Pebbles , Coarse aggregates and Major layer of  ACTIVATED CARBON Media ranging from 500 IV ( Iodine Value) to 1500 IV depending on the Customer requirements.Activated Carbon Media is good adsorbent of Odour, Color and it adsorbs Chlorine, and many more organic Compounds, Pesticides ect. Generally the Activated Carbon Filters are located AFTER the Sand Media filters.We make Activated carbon Filters Ranging from 500 mm Diameter  to 2000 mm Diameter for various Industrial Applications.  

REVERSE OSMOSIS:Reverse Osmosis is a well known process of Removal of TDS ( total Dissolved salts or Solids) from water.The Osmosis is very natural process  which everybody of us Knows.The Reverse Osmosis is achieved by applying ‘higher’ Pressure ( higher than Osmotic pressure Plus Losses and Backpressure of RO membranes) on feed water to so as to reverse the direction of natural osmosis (flow of water molecules from Low Concentration-Low Osmotic pressure side to Higher concentration- Higher Osmotic pressure side)The Osmotic pressure is directly proportional to the concentration of it ROT, 1000 ppm Concentration is 10 psig of osmotic pressure,We can visualize it as SUCTION pressure of relatively higher concentration Solution when two of them separated by Semipermeable Membrane. We make RO plants from 200LPH to 30,000 LPH and more.The general recovery of the brackish water RO plant is from 50% till 85%. Today RO is a keyword for most water purification applications from Domestic Drinking Water area to High Purity Boiler Water generation.
