This product is made by Narhari Das, Odisha. Narhari Das is a master artist in patta chatra painting. He is devoted to his art like surdas was to his music and poetry. Patta Chitra is one of the oldest art forms that depicted the mythological tales in a creative form on cloth based canvas. To survive and sustain the art form in a contemporary design Punarnawa has trained more than 100 artisans from 40 families in Patta Chitra design workshop that was held in year 2013 in collaboration with State Institute for the Development of Arts & Crafts, Odisha. It is an initiative to make the traditional art forms popular and utility oriented. You can use it for your iPad or Tablet. Sleeves can be used as folders and organisers. Traditionally Patta Chitra used natural colors derived from the minerals and herbs on a homemade canvas. There are fine artists who have still kept this art alive with little or no recognition or support. Narhari sir is one such gem who loves his art and sketches while humming folk songs. He is trying to make a painting for his national award application and he is struggling to finish it because he feels it is still not enough.

Woven fabric is then made into beautiful products by Punarnawa's in house team of 10 tailors headed by our Master tailor Anita who hails from a small village of Western Odisha. Anita took the skill and design development training under Punarnawa in 2014 and then 9 more females were trained and employed. The training program was facilitated by young philanthropic donors on a crowd funding platform. Anita now heads the department of stitching. Punarnawa Crafts has provided design and marketing support to marginalised weaver community. Punarnawa is working from past 3 years in finest handloom textiles. Punarnawa has supported more than 30 weavers in plain cotton weaves with check, stripes, temple and dobby borders. We bring you the softest cotton textiles in 280s x 40s combed cotton count and we do custom production on bulk orders. We work in Cotton handloom, Odisha's Ikkat weave and Assamese tribal weaves in handloom. In Punarnawa weaves you will find reflection of weaving types of India’s origin that are inspired from the rural abundance of nature and joy of human spirit; the classical type that offers luxury that were once adorned by the royalty and court life, this included symbols and mythological tales. Punarnawa is trying to develop designs involving the lost tribal techniques of weaving that involves geometrical patterns with primary colours in use and also motifs that is reflection of their lifestyle and interaction with the nature. Punarnawa weaves also has an influence from Islamic jaal and floral designs and contemporary design suiting the urban taste.
