The most widely used method of installing a glandless pump is to mount the pump in the vertical position beside the feed tank and positioned so that the pump impeller is flooded at normal maximum liquid level in the vessel the pump therefore primed. When the pump is started up it will deliver liquid until the suction pipe becomes uncovered when it can be allowed to run dry until the liquid leved is restored to the point where re-priming can take place. The liquid entering suction flow around the impeller casing and leaves through the delivery under pressure. Between the annular gap of upper rotor casing and impeller some leakage liquid escapes to the Overflow Chamber. The auxiliary impeller (expeller) prevents the leakage liquid going further up and canalizes it through out – Irt in the Chamber.        Advantages: No shaft sealing arrangement so no maintenance. VERTICAL GLANDLESS PUMPS are horizontal type end suction centrifugal pumps for handling heavily contaminated or muddy liquids with solids in suspension such as mash, pulps, beet shreds, sewage etc. The impeller has an axial intet.
