Coir fiber, obtained from the tissues surrounding the seed of the coconut palm, Cocos nucifera, is one of the few natural fibers that are strong, highly durable and water-proof. Coir fiber has the ability to stretch beyond its elastic limit without rupturing. Its resistance to microbial degradation and salt water and the power to take up a permanent stretch is unique. Available in light weight heavy duty coir or jute qualities in 4-treadle Herringbone weave in natural tan or green solid colour with eyelets and both ends finished with leather binding or canvas crease in full-pitch or half-pitch lengths. It provides the best possible playing surface where the actual turf is irregular or uneven. Both Jute and Coir have their own advantages in providing an even playing surface with consistant bounce. Jute is lighter in weight. There is a view that Jute is better over grass surface and that Coir Mats provide a tougher and bouncier pitch and better over sandy surface. But it would be difficult to say one is better over the other.

The unique qualities of the coir contribute liberally to the functions of the blanket in different capacities and measures, as under. The Coir Needled felt laid as blanket over the vertical drains allows the pore water, which gets collected and accumulated through and into the drain, to move freely to the sides. The Needled felt here acts as separator, filter, and filter reinforcement and facilities drainage during the function. While performing as a separator, the Coir Needled felt at the same item will act as a filter allowing water to pass freely through or into the plane. Again, it tends to confine the supporting aggregate beneath the pressure aggregates able to retain a degree of reinforcement within itself. The installed Coir Felt permits the water entering to be transmitted laterally, away from the areas of loading also. As a barrier, the blanket prevents the inter mixing of materials from either sides also, Great for Stabilization or Longer Growth Periods, Heavy Duty Netting Provides Added Stability, apable of Fuctioning on Very Steet Slopes.

Coir needle felts are non-woven fabric made out of 100% coir fibre. The fabric is composed of coir fibre randomly needle punched to the desired degree of compaction. The needle felts have excellent moisture absorption and retention characteristics and form an ideal medium for plant growth.The fibre is mechanically bonded or interlocked to form a continuous length of sheet. No bonding material is used in the manufacture process.
