In Hinduism, cow urine has a special significance as a medicinal drink. Sprinkling of cow urine is said to have a spiritual cleansing effect as well. The reason behind emphasizing the use of cow urine was that the cattle was a very basic unit of economy in Ancient India. Cows were thought to be very beneficial as they gave milk, urine (medicinal purposes)and dung (used as fuel) while they lived and supplied leather on death. And that was also the reason why cow is holy for Hindus and why Cow Slaughter is restricted. But nowadays Hindus do not use cow urine in religious rites as commonly.
