Taper end mill is used to make a taper hole by a plunging operation. A hole should be machined prior to the machining of the taper end mill. The hole size should be greater by 0.2 or 0.3 than the minor diameter of the taper end mill. Application for such end mill is found where compressor plate slots are machined. These plates are made of stainless steel(SS 420).
Tapered end mills create slots or grooves with tapered walls in a workpiece. They have a conical cutting head that is wider at the base than the tip. Each end mill has flutes on its cutting head that carry chips away from the workpiece to prevent damage to the end mill or workpiece.
