Surface preparation Newly plastered wall must be allowed to cure for minimum 3 months before painting. The surface must be free from dirt, dust and grease Remove all loose flaked coatings/particles or powder residue by thorough brushing and scrapping followed by water jetting, if required. Ensure removal of fungus and algae growth with suitable biocide treatment. Ensure that walls are completely dry before painting. Ensure that all water leakages and seepages are stopped completely before painting. Undulation to be rectified. Holes, dents and cracks are to be filled with exterior putty or sand mortar that is a mixture of White Cement & fine sand in the ratio of 1:3.   Priming A base coat of Surfa Acrylic Exterior Cement Primer (WB) is mandatory to prevent failure of a paint film.   Application On well cured, dried and cleaned plastered walls, apply one coat of Surfa Acrylic Exterior Cement Primer (Water Based) diluting 1 litre of primer with 500ml of clean potable water and allow drying for 5-6 hrs. Apply two coats of Surfex Rain Shield-diluting 1 litre of paint with 400ml of clean potable water. Allow a minimum interval of 5-6 hrs between coats. On horizontal surfaces like tops of parapets and awnings, it is necessary to apply 3 coats. Deep shades like Sunrise, Ming Red, Flamingo, Dark Micado, Terracotta, etc. require additional coats.   Precautions Surfex Rain Shield is not suitable for painting on damp surfaces or where there is a continuous seepage of water. Do not apply the paint at temperatures below 10ºC or above 40ºC. Use only exterior putty and an exterior primer on exterior walls. The paint should not be applied on surfaces/substrates which are subjected to continuous seepages or dampness. Application of Exterior Wall Primer is compulsory for all surfaces. Not doing so, can lead to failure of the paint film. Do not dilute the paint. Directions for use Prepare wall surface by scraping off flaked coatings and ensure removal of fungus and algae growth with suitable biocide treatment. The surface must be free from loose particles, dirt, dust, grease and moisture. Take maximum precautions where the water tends to accumulate, i.e., places like parapet,sunshade, etc. The exterior surface should be free from seepage and constant dampness. During the rainyreason allow 2-3 days of sunshine for surface to dry before starting painting. Newly plastered walls must be allowed to cure for 6 months before painting. To 1 litre of Surfex add 400 ml of clean potable water. For best results, apply 2 coats. Between coats, allow minimum of 4 hours gap. On sensitive areas like parapets and awnings, an extra coat is recommended. On a freshly plastered surface, 3 coats of Surfex are necessary. Apply the first coat by diluting one litre of Surfex with one litre of clean water.This coat acts as a primer coat. The other coats are to be applied by diluting with 400 ml of clean potable water per litre.   Precautions Do not apply putty or cement primers on exterior walls. Cracks can be filled with white cement or mixture of cement and sand, if necessary. Do not over thin the paint. Over dilution of Surfex Premium may result in shade variation, poor hiding, poor bonding and flaking. Do not use any universal stainers or other colourants.

Method of Application   Surface Cleaning: For Pre-Polished Wood: Remove all existing coatings by sanding or scraping For New Wood: Wooden surfaces to be sanded by using emery paper No.180 followed by 320. Clean the surface free of dust particles by wiping off. If necessary, remove dust and grease using a cloth soaked in Surfa D13 N.C thinner or equivalent. Under Coat:  To fill minor pores, apply Surfa N.C Wood filler using a putty knife or muslin cloth and remove excess coating. Sand the coat after 1 hour with emery paper No.240 and wipe clean.   To Seal the surface: Thin Surfa N.C Sanding Sealer with 100 parts of Surfa D13 N.C thinner for padding or 150 parts for spray. Permit 1 hour interval between successive coats. Use emery paper 240/320 to scrub leftover coats. Apply minimum 2 coats for better sealing.   Top Coat: For Top coat, use one of the following products Surfa 1K Acrylic Clear Matt/glossy or Surfa NC Cabinet Clear or Surfa Wood Shield- Glossy (PU based).   Apply the products strictly as per following directions For Surfa 1K Acrylic Clear Matt on filled wood: Apply 3 coats of Matt. For Surfa 1K Acrylic Clear Glossy use 2 coats of Matt and 2 coats of Glossy. To dilute Surfa 1K Acrylic Clear use 40-50 parts of Surfa NC Thinner SP 58. For Surfa N C Cabinet Clear Glossy/Matt: Thin with 50 parts of Surfa N C Thinner SP50. Apply minimum 2 coats by spray for better result. Further coats can be applied, if more gloss is required. Allow minimum 2 hours interval between successive coats. Use emery paper No 400/600 between coats. For Surfa Wood Shield Interior Glossy (PU Based): Thin with for brushing add 10% of Thinner  14 or Enamel Thinner 600 and mix well. For spraying add 20% of Thinner 14 or Enamel Thinner 600 and mix well. Apply 2 coats of thinned Wood Shield Interior Glossy by brush or spray allowing 12 hours drying time between coats.
