A syringe is a small infusion pump used to deliver small amount of fluids or medications to a patient. Syringe pumps are more compact and less weight than infusion pumps, it could adjust particular volume of syringes only. It works on the principle of Pascal’s principle. When a pressure is applied in closed container is the same everywhere in that container. Based on this principle, when piston is pressed a force was created inside the syringe, there is a stepper motor inside the pump, it controls the movement of syringe. Hence by the both actions syringe will move and inject the patient as set value. Audible and visual alarms are available for patient safety. KVO (Keep Vein open) mode is available here to prevent backflow and alarm will give indication to caretaker for empty syringe. Automatic Syringe detector is enabled to pre check before injection. Syringe pumps are more wisely used to inject medications rather than infusion pumps, since it is more fast and easy. Bolus & anti-bolus functions available. Less weight and portable, easy to mounded over stands. Battery backup is available. It is suitable for adult, pediatric and neonatal patients for continuous infusion of drugs. The infusion can also be done on a 2ml syringe which is recommended for neonatal care and anesthetic applications. The flow rate ranges from 0.01-1500 ml/hr. This model has 2 infusion displays, One a LED view for long distance viewing above 7ft and an LCD display for detailed information from short range. Depend on the patient weight drug dosage need to set. TERUMAX RX is a water resistant syringe pump with IPX4 water resistant certificate. It ensure that the product isn’t damaged due to fluid ingressions on the product. The product is made using ABS plastic which makes it very rugged and ensure there is no internal or external damage due to fall. The weight of the machine is 1.5 kg with DC 18v / 220 v AC power supply. Other features includes set of visual & audio alarm options, automatic syringe size detector, and battery backup of 8 hours at 5ml/hr flow rate.
