the load cell/weighing indicator surge protection device is a plug and play device, designed and developed to protect the weighing system indicator against the fault occurring from load cell side. this device will protect the analog to digital converter (adc) chips of the weighing indicator, from getting failed in the field against the conditions like electro static discharge (esd), overvoltage, short circuit and lightning arising from the cables leading to the load cell or the load cell platform itself. this device passes on the excitation voltage and returns the load cell signals without any deterioration of signal's levels but protects the weighing indicator against excessive leakage voltage and over current and electrical surges which may occur in the field from the load cell side due to esd or lightning or other reasons.this device being a simple plug and play module gets connected to the weighing indicator via 9-pin d-sub male connector and to the load cell via 9 pin d-sub female connector. features weighing indicator surge protection device has the following features  over voltage protection - 5v on excitation voltage line - 5v on signal lines  negative spike voltage protection - on excitation voltage line  reverse voltage protection  over current protection - on signal lines - 100ma cut off - one second restoration time - automatic restoration  esd protection → 8kv/15kv  lightning & surge protection - pulse current → ipp = 50 a (10/1000 μs) -  surge voltage → 4kv
