A steam boiler evaporates liquid water to form steam, or gaseous water; and requires frequent replenishment of boiler feedwater for the continuous production of steam required by most boiler applications. Water is a capable solvent, and will dissolve small amounts of solids from piping and containers including the boiler. Continuing evaporation of steam concentrates dissolved impurities until they reach levels potentially damaging to steam production within the boiler. Without blowdown, impurities would reach saturation levels and begin to precipitate within the boiler. Impurity concentrations are highest where steam is being produced near heat exchange surfaces. Precipitation would be expected to occur in the form of scale deposits on those heat exchange surfaces. Scale deposits thermally insulate heat exchange surfaces initially decreasing the rate of steam generation, and potentially causing boiler metals to reach failure temperatures. Angle Pattern Single Stage and Multi stage design The ACT x 83 Three Stage Angle Pattern Valve is Suitable for High Pressure Drain and Blow Down Service. Typical applications for this valve are Boiler Drum Continuous Blow Down and Turbine Drain Lines. These valves are designed for pressure drops as high as 200 bar.The Multistage Valve design integrates the advantages of a High Pressure Stop Valve Design and the Reliability of a High Pressure Reduction Valve. The Valve has a replaceable seat bush with stellite deposition at the seat. Slots in the seat bush and control plug are designed such that the spindle is guided throughout its travel by the seat bush eliminating the harmful effects of vibration. Velocities are restricted to 2-3 ms inside the valve when used on hot water services. The valve yoke is provided with a roller thrust bearing for ease of operation. High density pure graphite rings and roller burnishing of spindle and stuffing box bore, eliminate leakage through gland packing. Valve operation can be done by a hand wheel or with an electrical actuator without major modification to the yoke.

The continuous blowdown valves are needle valves designed for operation in open position. their function is mainly to control a continuous flow of steam andor water under high ap. For that reason the design and materials must be such as to minimise the effects of a fluid stream in condition of flashing or made of water containing sometime abrasive particles. The outlet of our valves is purposely venturi tube-shaped. the bonnetiess design enables easy dismantling, inspection and maintenance. the stem is rising, non-rotating. a local stroke indicator shows the position of the disk. The materials used for these valves are indicated on page 2 for the most requested material schedules, namely: material schedule 71, with carbon steel body; material schedule 22, with chromemolybdenum alloy steel body.
