The typical Sparkler Type filter press are available in standard model design as well as Zero hold up design. Zero hold up ensures that the unfiltered liquid hold up is almost nil. Scavenger plate arrangement is not required in case of Zero hold up design. Liquid is pumped through the central channel of the cartridge from the bottom of the body. Suspended particles are retained on the filter media resting on the filter plate. Clean filtrate emerges out from the peripheral holes of the plate, into the tank and comes out from the bottom outlet. Filter tank wall does not come in contact with the un-filtered liquid, hence remains clean.

The Cartridge assembly consists of plates with inter locking cups, plate rings, perforated screens and filter media arranged one above other, forms single pipeline. The unfiltered liquid is centrally fed under pressure from bottom inlet. The liquid spreads out equally on each plate fitted with filter media. Solids remain on the filter media and clear filtrate flows through Holes on the supporting ring and flows towards the shell, which is led out through outlet pipe line. In the process, solids are evenly distributed on each plate. At the end of cycle the cake can be dried by applying air or N2 or any inherent gas.

Horizontal plate filter press he filter from the bottom into the center channel & goes to the top of each plate. The clear filtrate flows out from openings on side of plates to the shell & then to the outlet. This flow ensure almost 100% filtration of the liquid which is not so with the standard flow type.
