Critical in the design was the HF waveguide. Typically, in a full range monopole speaker, the high frequency reproduction is also entrusted to cone transducers. While this fulfils the SPL criteria, it almost always fails to meet the necessary frequency extension required to generate cylindrical waves at very high frequencies. The A-Lign’s innovative waveguide utilizes 8 identical 1” custom made tweeters coupled to a reinforced fibre waveguide. This, in conjunction with the robust 3.5” mid range transducers produces an impressive frequency bandwidth, and importantly, true cylindrical waves. This means that for every doubling of distance, the sound pressure level drops not by the conventional 6 dB, but 3 dB only! This ensures uniform coverage in a horizontal span of 100 degrees (-6 dB) The A-Lign enclosure is 5 mm solid aluminum (extruded) with aluminum die cast endcaps. This rigidity ensures that cabinet resonance is minimized and there are no spurious noises or unwanted colouration. There is provision for 4 Ohm and 100 V connectivity. The front plastic grille blends with the slender aluminum enclosure.
