    • A pure tungsten electrode (AWS EWP) is a non-alloyed electrode (≥99.5% tungsten) known for its high melting point, excellent electrical conductivity, and chemical inertness, forming a stable, balled tip ideal for AC TIG welding of aluminum and magnesium, offering good arc stability and weld pool cleanliness but with lower current capacity and harder arc starts than alloyed types, making it generally unsuitable for DC welding due to potential contamination.    Key Characteristics Composition: At least 99.5% pure tungsten, often classified as EWP (E-Electrode, W-Tungsten, P-Pure). Appearance: Typically green-colored tip or marking, ground smooth. Arc Stability: Excellent stability with AC, naturally forming a clean, balled end for welding light metals. Heat Resistance: Very high melting point (around 3,422°C). Current: Lower current capacity than alloyed types; best for AC, less ideal for DC.    Applications Primary Use: TIG (Gas Tungsten Arc Welding) of aluminum and magnesium alloys. Other Uses: Plasma cutting, high-temperature industrial processes.    Advantages Provides a stable, clean arc on AC, minimizing weld contamination. Consistent performance for precision work in aerospace, electronics, and automotive.    Limitations Poor arc starting on DC and higher risk of tungsten inclusion in the weld pool. Higher consumption rate and shorter service life compared to alloyed electrodes.

    • Tungsten Welding Electrodes are widely used because they make good welds and are long lasting and quite easy to use. A thoriated tungsten electrode operates at a temperature well below its melting temperature compared to a pure tungsten electrode. This results in a much lower rate of consumption of the electrode during welding, which eliminates much of the “arc wander” associated with balled pure tungsten. Other reasons for their use include easier arc initiation, reduced weld metal contamination, higher current- carrying capacity, the ability to sharpen the electrode, and long life.

    • 2% Thoriated Tungsten Rod: Easy to get up the arc, in the welding process unceasingly arches. The electric arc is stable, not spread around and disperse the arc. The electricity saving effect is obvious, gets up the arc current relatively Drops 20 - 50%. Because welding current lower, in the use process is not easy to appear splashes, extremely not instable circle. The electrode causes Is long with the life. The thorium tungsten electrode is the traditional electrode, has the superior welding performance, but the tungsten thorium electrode slight radioactivity, caused it the application to receive certain resisting and the limit.Thoriated tungsten is the most commonly used tungsten material, Thoriated is a low-level radioactive material, but it was the first to display a significant improvement over pure tungsten.

General description tungsten electrode 2.4mm 10pcs alloyed f.dc tig welding. Features environmentally friendly- no radioactive components can be transported, stored and disposed of without legal restrictions suitable for welding all materials better ignition performance than thorium alloyed type electrodes low burn off rate, longer service life standardised in national and international norms (iso 6848, en 26848, aws a5.12, jls z3233) thoriated tig welding electrodes with 2 % thorium oxide (colour code red) are currently the most widely used electrodes worldwide. Thorium is however a radioactive element and as such represents a potential danger to health and environment. Thorium is a so-called “a-emitter,” but when enclosed in a tungsten matrix, the “a” radiation emitted externally is negligible. The danger to the welder arises when thorium oxide gets into the respiratory canals. This problem can occur during welding (vapours) as well as when grinding the electrode tip (grinding dust). In the near future, more stringent legal regulations regarding production, use and disposal of thoriated electrodes are expected. It is expected that tlg-welding electrodes containing thorium will disappear from the market in the foreseeable future, especially as an environmentally friendly and technically better solution is already available. Unitor tungsten electrodes are alloyed with lanthanum (colour code gold) and are sold in sturdy boxes of 10 pcs.
