Water Cooling Tower Technical Description Cooling towers are a special type of counterflow heat exchanger. Warm water is sprayed from the top down through the column while airflows up through the column. Cooling is predominantly due to the evaporation of the water. The amount of water evaporated is measured. A fan supplies a variable cooling airflow. All important process parameters including the water flow rate are measured electronically and displayed. The measured values can be transferred to a PC for analysis and further processing. A data acquisition card and software are included. Four further cooling columns are available as accessories.

We design and manufacture evaporative condensers from 60 TR to 225 TR for Ice Plants and Sea Food industries. The coils will be of either carbon steel tubes with galvanizing or with SS 316 tubes based on the location. The fans will be either direct drive or belt driven type as per client's requirement. The coils are designed and assembled with special baffles to minimize vibration and the water spray nozzles are strategically designed to have ideal atomizing effect. Our evaporative condensers are energy efficient in the market.

Evaporative cooling tower circulating cooling water that is brought in direct contact with the drawn-in surrounding air is cooled. A process' warm cooling water is spread out thinly over a contact body, which preferably has a large exchange surface. The air is led equally over this film of water.The cooling water is cooled by evaporation of a small amount (1-2%) of the circulating water. Per kg evaporated cooling water 2491 kJ is extracted from the circulating cooling water. The unsaturated air flow absorbs the evaporated water and the heat belonging to it.

The set-up is designed to demonstrate and study of heat & mass transfer during the process in a forced draft counter flow type water cooling tower.The set up consists of specially designed; SS vertical tower packed with aluminium mesh packing, fitted with front side acrylic window to provide actual visualization of cooling tower operation.The air from a blower enters at lower end of tower and after passing through the mesh packing leave the column from top outlet to atmosphere. Counter – currently hot water from water bath is evenly distributed over the packing by nozzles at top of the tower using circulation pump. An arrangement is made to vary and measure the airflow rate & temperatures at different locations in the tower. The hot water bath is provided with level gauge enables to show the exact evaporation loss. The evaporate cooling towers essentially combines a cooling tower and a condenser coil in single equipment. It eliminates the sensible heat transfer step of the condenser coil water which is required in the cooling towercondenser system. This permits a condensing temperature substantially closer to design wet-bulb temperature, and consequently, minimum heat process energy input. The closed circuit cooling tower was being tested at our factory with real heat load, with required water flow and was exported to Iraq after confirming the performance. The fan system sucks air through the falling water and over the coil surface. A small quantity of the water is evaporated, removing heat from the primary circuit and cooling it inside the coil. Therefore, like the cooling tower, all of the heat rejection is by evaporation, thus saving about 95% of the water normally required by a "once-through" system..!!
