The first is hopcalite. hopcalite is a mixture of copper and manganese oxides used as catalyst to convert carbon monoxide into carbon dioxide when exposed to the oxygen in air. Desiccants are standard air purification chemicals that are effective in removing excess water vapor. They accomplish this through chemical reactions that absorb moisture or through capillary condensation, also known as adsorption. Desiccants are efficient and practical for drying and purifying gas. Both chemicals can hold carbon monoxide and other poisonous toxic fumes created by fire.
