We have leonardite mines in turkey. Leonardite is the oxidation product of lignite and it is a rich source of humic acid. It is used at the following areas: a) agriculture: as soil amendment and fertilizer additive. It adds organic matters and improves texture, moisture holding capacity and ph stability. b) soil remediation: sodic and calcareous soils benefit from organic matters and it provides good bacteria grow. c) foundry: it is an additive to sand molding, reduces clay viscosity, increases mold permeability, absorbs/retains water and improves mold shakeout. d) oil field: it is used in water-based drilling mud, reduces fluid loss and improves filter cake quality.
