Wood descriptionHeartwood color is dark brown to black. Sapwood color is white to yellowish and clearly differentiated. Grains are straight, texture is fine.

Machining Properties Difficult to saw with hand tools. Machine sawing gives good result. Properly sharped tools required. TCT cutters recommend. Planing is very easy and gives excellent results. Prebound is required for nailing and screwing.
Finishing Fine sanding and buffing give very good finishing.
Drying & treatment Drying speed is very slow, wax coating is needed on the cross section.
Common uses Inlay decoration, gift items, musical instruments, decorative handles, drum sticks, piano keys, walking sticks.
Additional Information It is a very hard wood and very much durable. Wavy grains give very good quilted and crotch figure in decorative veneer.
