msp sponge iron plant uses the highest grade of iron ore and premium quality coal. This ensures very high metallization of sponge iron. Sponge iron is fast becoming a significant input in low-cost steel production. With the availability of abundant raw material in india, the production of sponge is set to multiply over the years. Global market trends predict a steady upward movement. Msp has consolidated its position to meet the growing demand and is one of the leading coal based dri manufacturer in india as on date.
manufacturing process
in the dri plant, production of sponge iron using a solid reductant involves reducing iron ore (lumps/pellets) with a carbonaceous material like coal or lignite. The reduction is carried out in a rotary kiln (which is inclined and rotates at a pre-determined range of speed) at a stipulated temperature ( 850 °c – 1050°c). The inclination and the rotary motion of the kiln ensure that the raw materials move from the feed end to the discharge end of the kiln and during this movement the actual reduction of iron ore to iron takes place. The material discharged from the kiln is taken to a rotary cooler for cooling and the cooler product is separated from the coal char.

MSP is one of the first company to set up a captive pellet plant, producing 9,00,000 TPA cost-effective iron pellets from superior quality iron ore fines through the beneficiation process for both captive and commercial use.
MANUFACTURING PROCESS
Filter Cake (Iron-ore fitness concentrate) is received from the post beneficiation process. Other raw materials like Lime Stone, Dolomite, Bentonite, Coke & Coal is mixed with filter cakes in proportion as an additive and binder. Then the mixture passes through Pelletizing Discs to make green balls and then for screening are sent to the Drying -> Preheating -> Roasting process in a coal fired rotary Kiln to make the pellets. The finished pellets are then sent for cooling purpose and stored. The undersized and oversized balls are sent to the crusher for the further pelletizing process.

On the fast track to building a new India, the MSP group is now a Rs. 1200 crores turnover enterprise with a wide range of products and a pan India presence. MSP Steel & Power Ltd has set up an integrated steel plant since 2003 at Raigarh, Chhattisgarh. Today it is an integrated steel plant with backward integrated facilities to manufacture pellet and captive power. Besides, it boasted of facilities like bar and structure mills, coal washery, billet and ferro –alloy units amongst others. Further, MSP has also signed an MOU with Government of Chhattisgarh to enhance capacity of its Raigarh facility to 1 million TPA. Work on the 1st phase is already completed. Our goal is to be the most admired, continuously growing company with operational excellence, driven by innovation, technology and motivation to enhance sustainable industrial and business growth.
