Battery testing as per IS 1651
The scope of this standard specifies the rated Ah capacities, overall dimensions, performance requirements and test of stationary Lead acid cells and batteries using tubular positive plates.
The following type tests are carried out in given sequence:
Verification of constructional requirements (Clause 12.2) Cell lids, venting device, Electrolyte level indicator, and terminal posts, connectors, and nuts and bolts spray arrestor are verified for their constructional requirements. The cells shall meet the entire requirement according to the Clause 6 of IS 1651.
Verification of marking (clause 12.3): The following information must be durably marked on outside the cell. Source of manufacturer, Ah capacity at 10- hours’ rate, Upper and lower electrolyte level for transport containers, year of manufacturer, country of origin and the standard mark. The cell shall be suitably packed to avoid any loss and damage during transit.
Verification of Dimensions( clause 12.4): The ampere hour capacities and dimensions of the cells shall be in accordance with the table below:
