Most of the capacitors used in the lighting industry are hand made, esp. the metallization of electrodes . The qualitiy of these capacitors change from batch to batch." Delta" has developed a test panel with high discharge currents (up to 10 kA pulse) to test the capacitors samples cyclically for a specified duration. If during this test, any capacitor short-circuits; a lamp- inside the panel will light up. After the test capacitors have to be tested for their impedance by passing the current at rated voltage This is a destructive test; all the capacitors tested on this panel have to be destroyed afterwards & not to be used.
