If you are offered a Baldwin filter at a price that seems too good to be true, it may be.   ColorThe color of a Baldwin spin-on filter may not be correct on a counterfeit filter. It may be close, but just not right.   GraphicsGraphics on the filters, including the logo, may be missing or incorrect. In the photo to the left, the counterfeit filter has 2 I's in Baldwin.   ComponentsA counterfeit filter may look right upon first glance, but upon closer examination, you may find major differences. Some places to look include:   Dimensions The dimensions of the filter may not be the same as a genuine Baldwin filter.   Baseplate The baseplate may look different or be made from a different material than that used by Baldwin.   SeamingOn a spin-on filter, the seam joining the can to the baseplate may be different than methods used by Baldwin   Media PacksCounterfeit media packs often have an obviously lower pleat count than Baldwin. In addition, the pleats may be deformed.   Gaskets Both internal and external gaskets may look different or be made from a different material than that used by Baldwin.   Date Code Baldwin manufactured filters have a date code imprinted on them. The date code can appear with six or eleven digits.   UPC Code The UPC code on a counterfeit filter may be missing or incorrect.   Country of Origin Baldwin manufactured filters are marked with the country of origin. Baldwin has manufacturing plants in the United States, the United Kingdom, Mexico, South Africa, Morroco and China.   Counterfeit filters and other parts are generally not made to provide the specific protection required by your equipment. Remember to inspect filters prior to installing or sale to ensure that you are using quality, genuine Baldwin filters.

Typical applications include on- and off-highway trucks, transit buses and waste hauler trucks. Why Use Air Dryers?A typical application consists of a compressor (to pressurize the system), an air dryer (to remove water and small amounts of oil from the compressed air) and a reservoir or “air tank” (to store air to be used for vehicle braking, etc.). The workhorse of the air dryer is the desiccant (a drying agent), which helps remove water from the compressed air. The end result is cleaner, drier air supplied to the air brake system. This helps to prevent line and component freeze, and promotes longer life of the air system itself.Typical service intervals for Air Dryer products are: 1 year for high air usage 2 years for medium air usage 3 years for standard air usage

This means they must be porous enough to allow sufficient flow volume, which limits filtering ability. Any tighter media would result in frequent element changes.The DAHL system takes care of those shortcomings. DAHL’s functional dual-chamber 3-stage diesel fuel filter/water separators provide efficient suction side water separation and contaminant filtration. The key is the unique DAHL patented depressurizer cone, which spreads the flow of the fuel. With more area to flow over, greater separation of water and dirt from the fuel is achieved.DAHL fuel filter/water separators have less mechanical flow resistance than other separators, because the fuel changes direction only twice. The prior filter design did not include a by-pass valve and relied on the by-pass valve within the OE housing to operate properly, even after many years of operation. Most axial seal style air filters for heavy-duty applications are made with sealing gaskets glued to steel end caps. As the filter is secured in the housing, the gasket compresses against flat sealing surfaces, forms a seal and prevents airborne contaminants from bypassing the filter.The Change…As an innovative company, Baldwin Filters now utilizes new technology in the design of a select group of axial seal style heavy-duty air filters within our product line. Some steel end caps with glued sealing gaskets will now be replaced by molded urethane en+d caps and sealing gaskets. With this technology, soft urethane used for the gasket is molded together with a more rigid urethane used for the end cap. Some filters will have urethane end caps on both ends while others may still require the use of a metal end cap at one end.The Benefits… Environmentally Friendly Materials Eliminates Gasket Adhesion Concerns Enhanced Gasket Sealing When Will I See The New Design?A running change will be made to the filters involved.
