A Dry Mix contains no added water (or very, very little when the aggregates are particularly dry and dusty). This gives it a relatively long working life, anything from 2-8 hours, depending on time of year and weather conditions. The absence of additional water means that the material is stiff, so when flags are laid onto it and tapped down to level, there’s no ‘floating’, no hitting one end only for the other end to rise up.
