In industrial terms, free cutting steel is the one which has more sulphur content in it than the carbon. When compared to the steel that has a higher percentage of carbon, these free cutting steels that come with a higher percentage of sulphur and phosphorous in it, are easy to cut through. The cutting process makes it possible to use it in the manufacturing industry. In order to make sure that the free cutting steel is sturdy and does not give out any troubles, the steel is mixed with either lead or tellurium to develop an alloy.
