This helps the slag to remove sulphur from the steel in form of sulphides, which moves easily towards more fluid slag. Hence it can also acts as desulphurising agent. The increased basicity and fluidity of slag also minimizes the erosion of refractory lining thus increasing the ladle life greatly.
