Moving blades and Guide blades are essential for functioning of Steam Turbines. Moving blades of 95 types and guide blades of 24 types of differing geometry designed by LMZ Russia, SKODA, Siemens Germany and also GEC U.K. were developed and supplied to different customers for power and industrial sector's applications. These blades are forged from X20Cr13, X10CrNi Mov1222, X5CrNi 13.4 and X22CrMov122 compositions of stainless steel. Over 76,000 Moving blades and 24,000 Guide blades are supplied so far to various customers in India and also Russia and Poland. In addition, 639 numbers of Inlet Guide Vanes for Gas Turbines out of “Custom 450” material are developed and supplied. Blades required for 250 MW Turbine of one meter in length and 35 Kg in weight are fully developed and established. Blades by higher length and weight required for 500 MW steam turbines are under development.

Tokyo, May 27, 2014: L&T Special Steels and Heavy Forgings (LTSSHF) has entered into a technology transfer agreement with The Japan Steel Works, Ltd. (JSW) - an acknowledged world leader in the field of heavy steel forgings. The five year agreement covers transfer of critical technology for steel melting & heavy forgings made from ingots weighing up to 200 MT, for hydrocarbon, thermal power, steel & cement sectors.

Twin castors have the advantages of greater load carrying capacity for the same castor height. The load is distributed over a wide floor area. But because of the differential movement of two wheels, the scrubbing action that arises on turning from the use of wide tread single wheel is avoided. The use of twin castor is, therefore, advantageous than use of single wheel castor with wider tread width of the wheel. Attachments such as wheel lock, wheel brake & swivel lock can be provided on these castors. SRT, BRT, PU-PP, PU-CI, PP, NYL, UHMW, FBR, CI wheels can be used in heavy duty twin castors.

Heavy Duty castors are recommended where floor conditions are not good & MD castors needs frequent replacement. These castors can withstand occasional shock loads & higher speeds. Heavy Duty swivel castors are of two types. i.e. HD-F & HD-C. However, important dimensions such as mounting holes, overall height etc. are exactly same for both types of castors. Therefore, matching fixed castor [ FX(HD) ] is same for both types of swivel castor. SRT, BRT, PU-PP, PU-CI, PP, NYL, UHMW, FBR, CI wheels can be used in heavy duty castors.
