The Type 50 NACE complies with NACE material requirement #MR-01-75 for sulfide stress cracking-resistant metallic materials for oil field equipment. The rugged design and construction of the Type 50 includes the incorporation of die cast aluminum housings that are finished with epoxy paint for added protection against scratching, weathering and other challenging environments. Careful design and use of quality materials ensure long, trouble-free operation, even in the most difficult of industrial environments. The user-adjustable Type 50 series offers superior pressure regulation vs. flow characteristics, excellent stability, repeatability and built-in filter with dripwell. A rubberized, soft-seat valve stem provides positive shut-off and “forgives” dirt or other foreign matter. An aspirator maintains downstream pressure and compensates for droop when high flow occurs. A gauge port facilitates convenient gauge installation and can be used as an additional full flow outlet. In addition, Type 50 NACE regulators include an easily serviceable and self-cleaning 316 stainless steel mesh filter that can be side, panel, pipe or through-body mounted.

Principle Of Operation : The pressure is set to a desired value by compressing the range spring by adjusting knob or screw. This causes the pin to move downwards, opening the supply valve and allowing air flow. Filtration : The air first enters the inlet port and passes through the filter element where solid particles are trapped. Water and oil particles are thrown against the inside wall of the bowl by centrifugal force. The liquid particles collect in the bottom of the bowl, which can be drained off regularly by opening the DRAIN PLUG.Regulation : The clean air passes through the supply valve and the pressure at the outlet builds up against the control diaphragm and closes the valve until the equilibrium is achieved. This equilibrium or set pressure is maintained under changes in operating conditions in the following manner.Downstream pressure drop : A drop in downstream pressure reduces the diaphragm pressure force, upsetting the equilibrium condition. This unbalance causes the supply valve to open until the pressure builds up once more to the equilibrium.Downstream pressure increase : A sudden increase in downstream pressure acts on the diaphragm, causing the relief seat in the diaphragm assembly to lift and open. The excess pressure drops almost instantaneously to the equilibrium value, at which point the relief valve closes.Changes in forward flow : Under forward flow conditions the range spring force is balanced by the diaphragm pressure force, with the supply valve open just enough to maintain the requited equilibrium output pressure. When high flow occurs, a specially designed aspirator helps maintain downstream pressure and compensates for droop.
