For automatic operation of hydrant, Water Spray and other water based systems, an automatic pumping arrangement is provided, so that the pumps operate and send pressurised water with adequate flow to the point of fire, facilitating early extinguishment.  The pumping arrangement typically consists of main electric driven pumpsets with standby diesel engine pumpsets (which will operate in case of power failure or failure of main pumpsets).  Jockey pumps are provided to maintain pressure in the system in case of minor leakages, temperature variation etc.  All the pumps are sequentially operated with necessary controls and instrumentation which includes MCC panels, pressure switches etc.  Sluice Valves, Non Return Valves, Strainers etc. are also provided as part of pumping arrangements.

Water Spray System consists of a network of piping connected to a reliable source of fire protection water supply and equipped with Water Spray Nozzles for sqecific water discharge and distribution over the areas to be protected. Normally a Deluge Valve is used for the purpose.  Operation could be manual but usually it is automatic and actuation is typically done through fire / heat / smoke detectors.  There are two types of system installed by us, viz., High Velocity Water Spray & Medium Velocity Water Spray System for different types of hazards.  This type of system is  most often used for protection of Transformers, Reactors, Vessels, Equipment, Spheres etc.

The Sprinkler System is designed to detect the fire as well as provide adequate distribution of water in the affected area to control or extinguish it.  They are typically used in buildings, warehouses and other applications where only the area under fire is to be sprayed.  It operates at predetermined temperature to discharge water over the affected area.

Typically consisting of a bank of cylinders containing pressurised extinguishing gases [various HALON alternatives such as INERGEN (IG 541) / FM 200 / Argonite / Novec etc.].  This gas is discharged into the area to be protected whenever the sensors (heat / smoke / multicriteria / beam detectors) indicate a fire situation.  Typically a "cross Zoned Signal" is taken which confirms the fire before releasing the extinguishing gas into the room.

Foam Systems are very effective for extinguishing all oil based fires and they are extensively used in the petroleum sectors.  Also high expansion foam systems can be used (e.g. for Cable Trenches).  Foam Systems envelope / blanket the fire with an aqueous solution and thereby starve fire of Oxygen.  This can be used for floating and fixed roofs, tanks, dyke areas etc.  Foam can be stored in bladder tanks or in atmospheric storage tanks.

Fire Hydrant System consists essentially of a network of pipelines (both underground and over ground), which feeds pressurized water to several hydrant valves.  These hydrant valves are located throughout the area to be protected at intervals determined by Hazard Classification and Fire Rules (TAC/NFPA/LPC, etc). In case of emergency the hoses are coupled to the respective hydrant valves through instantaneous couplings and jet of water is directed on the fire to extinguish it. 

The purpose of a Fire Alarm System is to provide necessary audio and visual information for commencement of Fire Fighting operations / emergency evacuation procedures / summoning of fire brigade or taking necessary appropriate action in case of fire or any other emergency.  The system consisits of various types of automatic and manual sensors which initiate alarms through Fire Alarm Panels. These are interconnected through cabling (wireless options are also now available).The sensors typically used are various types of smoke and heat detectors, beam detectors, multi-criteria detectors, air sampling detectors etc.  Besides the Fire Signals in the panel other facilities including short circuit, open circuit, battery low indication etc. are also available. The panel typically has built in battery pack with automatic charging so that the system works even in case of power failure.  The Fire Alarm Systems are governed by Indian and International standards such as those issued by NFPA (USA), TAC (India), British Standards, EN / VDS standards etc.  Techno Fire Controls is able to offer all kinds of Fire Alarm Systems including Conventional and Addressable types with all sorts of zoning and communication facilities.  All Fire Alarm Systems are designed specific to the project by Techno Fire Controls which includes design, engineering, supply, testing and commissioning services.

Water for hydrant system is supplied by diesel engine driven pump  One no., water storage tanks of total capacity 100 cu.m. is provided.  Pumps work under positive suction head. The outdoor piping for the system in general is laid under ground. Pumps shall only be stopped manually.  Manual start/stop provision is provided in local control panel.
