The BMP085 is the fully pin- and function compatible successor of the SMD500, a new generation of high precision digital pressure sensors for consumer applications. The universal C-code SMD500/BMP085 (?BMP085_SMD500_API?) is fully upward compatible to SMD500 and recognizes automatically the device ID.
