  Galavanised cogurrated sheets are proved to be light, strong, corrosion-resistant, and easily transported, and particularly lent itself to prefabricated structures.  G.C.Sheet is also a common construction material for industrial buildings throughout the world. For roofing purposes, the sheets are laid somewhat like tiles, with a lateral overlap of two or three corrugations, and a vertical overlap of about 150 mm, to provide for waterproofing. Although galvanising inhibits corrosion of the underlying steel, rusting will be inevitable, especially if the local rainfall is at all acidic in nature. So for example, corrugated iron sheet roofing will start to degrade within a few years despite the protective action of the zinc coating in corroding preferentially.Stair Protection. Hot dip galvanizing of the strip is carried out by immersing it in a zinc bath maintained at 460 degree centigrade. The chemistry of the bath is carefully controlled to ensure proper adhesion and formability of the applied zinc together with bright blemish free uniform spangles. The galvanized coils are chromated to improve its resistance to white rust. The chromating parameters are continually monitored and sheets are regularly tested through salt-spray tests to ensure the performance of this process.
