Vitamin B6 acts as a co-factor in trans-sulfuration pathway, where homocysteine irreversibly condenses with serine and forms cystathionine. This reaction is catalyzed by the enzyme cystathionine betasynthase. Further, cystathionine is converted into cysteine. Voglibose is an alpha-glucosidase inhibitor, it is an oral anti-diabetic drugs used for diabetes mellitus type 2. Alpha-glucosidase inhibitors are act as competitive inhibitors of enzymes needed to digest carbohydrates: specifically alpha-glucosidase enzymes in the brush border of the small intestines. Voglibose is slowly and poorly absorbed, and is rapidly excreted. Little metabolism occurs.
