Conventional FILTER PRESSES are limited to using feed pump discharge pressure to produce dry solids, resulting in longer cycle times. The membrane squeeze plate reduces the long cycle time by introducing a squeeze medium of the membrane squeeze plate. This allows the membranes to flex against the cake, compressing and packing it. Filtration cycle are shorter, dry solids are increased, and waste volume is reduced. The membrane is designed to dewater the most difficult Cake and protect the Filter plates against cake less chambers. The high pressure membranes are developed for difficult filtration processes. Extreme squeeze pressures are possible due to the combination of the special feed inlet design and selected special materials.

The operation of conventional filter presses have always been messy and labor intensive. With ever increasing labor cost there arose a demand for atomizing several filter press operations. N.M. Patel Engg. was first to develop & offer automatic filter presses with following features.    Auto Shaking mechanism The filter press with precisely engineered auto shaking mechanism will shake the group of plates at one time maintaining the predetermined gap between the two plates via chain or rope. The auto shaking mechanism is run by electric or hydro-motor shaking the plates with suitable revolutions adjusted by means of PLC, which co-relates the filtration sequence without operator’s attention. AUTO PLATE SHIFTER FILTER PRESSThis highly advanced arrangement, provides fully automated closing and opening. When the filter is ready for cake dumping, the double acting cylinder retracts, pulling with it the movable head or follower. As soon as the followers is fully retracted, the shuttle shifter takes over, picking up the first plate from the head end of the unit, moving it across the opening or cleaning space to expose the cake and stacking it against the follower. The shifter then automatically reverses, returns for the next plate, transports and stacks it against the first plate and so on with time cycle set in PLC. Until all of the plates have been successively shifted and chambers dumped. An over-ride is provided so that the shifter can be stopped at any time and its motion resumed when the operator desired. Drip Trays in Bombay Door ConstructionDrip Trays are kept below the plates or Plate & Frame. It serves the purpose of collecting Drip (Filtrate) during the filtration or water during washing which falls due to capillary action from the Filter cloth.Arranged underneath the filter plate set.Fabricated of steel with plastic coating, stainless steel or entirely of synthetic material. Operated manually or fully automatic by means  of electro gear drive or hydro motor. Accident Prevention  As safety precaution for the operating personnel. Plate shifting device shifts individual plates immediately after the filter press opens (i.e. After the moving end head is retracted) operated by hydro-motor with necessary chain and sprocket design. The system is along with the plate shaking mechanism which shakes the plates to the nos. Of time which helps cake to be de-loaded from the chamber. Shifter trolley will be of m.s. Construction. Necessary controls for speed and pressure are incorporated in the hydraulic power pack unit. The panel is designed to operate the plate transport system after the filter press opening.

The function of the plate shifter is to move the plates and allow rapid discharge of the filter cakes accumulated in between the plates. It also contains a diaphragm compressor in the filter plates which aids in optimizing the operating condition by further drying the filter cakes.
