Use care when attaching the hose so as not to break the calibrated stem of the absorption burette. If using the 1/100th calibrated burette (10102) place your finger on top of the stem and push gently downward onto the support block to prevent the stem from breaking when attaching the hose. Make sure that the gas supply is regulated to below 10 psi before releasing gas into the purity tester.open both cocks (5005) and allow the gas to sweep through the absorption burette and caustic reservoir to completely displace air in the glassware. If preferred, the bulb may be first filled with water and the water displaced with the gas to be tested.after the sample has been taken, close the cock on the absorption burette first and then close the cock on the caustic reservoir.pour the caustic solution into the reservoir to the line indicated on the bulb (approximately 105 cc).open the cock on the caustic reservoir and allow the solution to flow down into the absorption burette. The measurement of this characteristic is of important in the evaluation of compounds for products such as inner tubes, tubeless tyre liners, hoses, balloons or other gas containers, seals and diaphragms etc. The& Gas Permeability Tester for rubber consists of a test cell with arrangement for maintaining a constant elevated temperature and a horizontal glass capillary system for measuring the volume of gas permeated. The test cell consists of metal blocks having independent arrangements for heating with the help of cartridge type heaters. The temperature of each ck is indicated and controlled individually with the help of individual digital temperature indicators cum coblontrollers. This unit is used for determining the ‘Gas Volumes’ of a sodasoft drink. ‘Gas volume’ is a unit determined by the pressure inside a bottle and the temperature of the liquid. The Gas Volume Tester is basically a quality-checking unit. One or two bottles are taken out from the production line at regular intervals and gas volumes checked. A thermometer is also required. The Tester is first clamped on the bottle to be checked. Then the bottle is punctured with the spindle by rotating the knob and the pressure noted on the pressure gauge. The Tester is then removed, bottle opened and the temperature of liquid checked. Both values are noted and the ‘gas volumes’ found by referring the chart provided. Soda and various soft drinks have varying ‘gas volumes’ and the values have to be adhered to get the best quality.
