INTRODUCTION The wastewater generation and its treatment has become a consequential health issue in the developing countries due to the inadequate treatment facilities. The discharge of untreated wastewater in surface and sub-surface water courses is the most important source of contamination of water resources. Depending on the Source the type of effluent generated is categorized into two type :- 1. ETP – Effluent Treatment Plant 2. STP – Sewage Treatment Plant   METHODS OF TREATMENT While ETP is entirely Chemical based treatment system depending on the contents of the chemical present in the discharged effluent whereas STP is both Anaerobic as well as Aerobic. The combination of both systems has also been used in STP’s. ADVANTAGES OF GREEN TECHNOLOGY This treatment is low energy dependent and has distinct advantage over all the conventional wastewater treatment systems- the Activated Sludge Process, Trickling Filters, and Rotating Biological Contactors which are highly energy intensive, costly to install and operate, and do not generate any income. In the Bio – Culture there is 100% capture of organic materials, the capital and operating costs are less, and there is high value added end product Sludge is useful soil additive for agriculture and horticulture There is no foul odor as these Set of Microbes and Enzymes arrest rotting and decay of all putrescible matters in the wastewater and the sludge.
