Moonstone is a soft milky white stone. Moonstone shows a silvery or bluish hay, which appears due to the intergrowth of two different types of feldspar with different refractive indexes. It is the most valuable variety of feldspar with an rainbow sheen and the colors range from colorless to white, gray, brown, yellow, orange, green, or pink. Clarity ranges from transparent to translucent. Moonstone can be easily scratched as it has a hardness of 6. Store moonstones carefully and never allow two pieces to touch each other.
