Radiotone 0.5 A, 0.75 A, 1.2 A Single Layer Variable Autotransformers (colloquially known as Variac) are very small in size (82 mm Dia) Variable Autotransformers.  In same size we can also make from 0 to 25V at 5A or 0 – 50V @ 3A and for 400 Hz applications. Radiotone 0.5 A, 0.75 A, 1.2 A Single Layer Variable Autotransformers (colloquially known as Variac) are used in Instrumentation, HV Testers & Aviation (400 Hz).  All the models are coated for physical protection as shown in the picture.  We use Roller brushes for very smooth long lasting & arc free contact. 

Variacs or variable auto transformer is a Continuously variable voltage transformer, having a single layer winding on a toroidal core of high grade Steel. In an autotransformer portions of the same winding act as both the primary and secondary winding. the winding has at least three taps where electrical connections are made. One end of the winding is usually connected in common to both the voltage source and the electrical load. The other end of the source and load are connected to taps along the winding. Different taps on the winding correspond to different voltages, measured from the common end.

We specialize in the manufacture of high current rated coils. The commutator surface of our coils is machine processed and hence very uniform and smooth. This is very important for proper collection of current by the carbon brushes thus reducing the heat generated. Our standard coils are 100 Amp, 150 Amp, 200 Amp. Using these coils we manufacture oil-cooled variautos from 100 Amp 3 Ph to 1200 Amp 3 Ph capacity (415 V input and 0-470 V variable output). In high current rated models we use multiple coils with properly rated balancing coils to achieve the rated current. Based on the calculations of cooling area appropriate no. of radiators &fins  are used. These variautos are generally motorized with geared mechanism. We also cater to tailor-made requirements.

VARIAC is a continuous Variable AutoTransformer, having a single layer winding on a Toroidal Core( Donut-Shaped )  CRGO Stamping (  high-grade Cold Rolled Grain Oriented  steel). On one side of the copper winding, a special durable contact surface is made.  A contact holder arm  with specially selected high grade carbon brushes  slides smoothly on this surface over the winding and taps of a portion of voltage across the winding. Any desired voltage within the Maximum range can be obtained by adjusting the position of the Brush.   High grade CRGO stamping is used for making Variac Coils.   Variable Auto Transformer will be having round Toroidal Core made from CRGO Lamination duly annealed to reduce the iron Losses and for the good regulation as voltage drop on load is low due to low resistance of conductor & low leakage flux of toroidal core. Toroidal core will provide stepless, beakless, smooth continuous control linearly proportional to angular rotation. Toroidal core is having high efficiency as no load and full load losses are very low and negligible wave from and power factor distortion due to simple transformer action and excellent short time overload capacity. As Toroidal core is having no sharp edge the breakage of insulation and copper wire can be prevented. the toroidal is wound from metal tape wound on to a mandrel under closely controlled tension, then annealed and treated to develop fully the required magnetic characteristic. It has low electrical resistively, no hysteresis loss, a completely linear B-H Curve and an infinitely high saturation points. this permits the easiest direction of magnetization to be utilized.

The viscometer consists of a chrome plated copper plated copper bath, with a drain valve and a central tube to receive the test cup and to position the stirrer, and is mounted on a stand with leveling feet. Stirrer has a curved shield and is provided with an insulated handle, thermometer socket and swivel support for the valve.
