Installation instructions for Soft Inverted Mantles Turn off gas supply to the lamp and allow it to cool. Ensure used mantle ash is removed and all glass panes are clean. Remove old mantle rings from burner tips. Carefully remove each mantle from the pack, insert ceramic ring onto burner nozzle and twist 1/4 turn. Gently pull down the mantle fabric for proper shaping. Pre-burn the mantles by lighting them WITH THE GAS STILL TURNED OFF. DO NOT TOUCH MANTLE after pre-burning as they are very FRAGILE. Simultaneously, turn on the gas (very slowly) and ignite the mantle. Mantles will shape up completely (auto form). Annotation: Each mantle differs in shape, which is normal. The most common cause of mantle failure occurs due to the slightest vibration or shocks.
