High Nickel Nickel which keeps it from being embrittled by intergranular precipitates at temperatures of 600° F to 1400° F in many processes. Typically, the elemental restrictions of both, nickel 200 and nickel 201, are combined into one, dual-certified chemistry resulting in a single alloy with the desired characteristics of both alloys, Nickel 200201.

Nickel 200 is commercially pure (99.6%) wrought nickel. It has good mechanical properties and excellent resistance to many corrosive environments. Other useful features of the alloy are its magnetic and magnetostrictive properties, high thermal and electrical conductivities, low gas content and low vapor pressure. The corrosion resistance of Nickel 200 makes it particularly useful for maintaining product purity in the handling of foods, synthetic fibers, and caustic alkalies; and also in structural applications where resistance to corrosion is a prime consideration.

Cupro Nickel It has very good corrosion resistance to clean moderately polluted marine or estuary water, even containing dissolved incondensable gases. This alloy is virtually immune from stress-corrosion cracking and hot spot denickelification.

Cupronickel (also referred to as "cupernickel" or copper-nickel alloy) refers to a group of copper-nickel alloys that are used in saltwater environments due to their corrosion resistant properties. The most common cupronickel alloys are: 90/10 Cupro-nickel (copper-nickel-iron) 70/30 Cupro-nickel (copper-nickel-iron) These alloys have good working properties, are readily weldable and considered insensitive to stress corrosion. Cupronickel is also resistant to biofouling, crevice corrosion, stress corrosion cracking and hydrogen embrittlement. Slight differences in corrosion resistance and strength generally determine which alloy grade is used for a particular application Corrosion Resistance: Cupronickel resists corrosion in seawater because its electrode potential is essentially neutral in such environments. Consequently, it will not form electrolytic cells when placed in close proximity to other metals within an electrolyte, which is the main cause of galvanic corrosion. Copper also naturally forms a protective oxide layer on its surface when exposed to seawater, which protects the metal from deterioration. It is a special form of Nickel which comprises of finely divided spongy Nickel particles prepared by leaching out Aluminium under controlled conditions from a Nickel-Aluminium Alloy by treating the alloy in its powder form with a concentrated solution of caustic soda. The slurry of finely divided spongy Nickel particles so obtained is washed with large quantities of water till it is nearly free from free caustic. It is always kept submerged under water or a suitable solvent such as Ethanol, Cyclohexane, Dioxane etc. Raney Nickel is a versatile Hydrogenation Catalyst and is used in Hydrogenation of large number of functional groups notable among them being Carbon- Carbon double bond, Carbonyl (aldehydic and ketonic), Nitro, Azide, Nitrile, Oxime groups. It is also used in Hydrogenolysis (viz dehalogenation, debenzylation) and Desulfurisation reactions. Raney Nickel can also be used in hydrogenation reactions involving very high pressure and temperature. Due to its ability to hydrogenate virtually any type of functional group Raney Nickel is likely to hydrogenate most of the functional groups present on the molecule (of course to varying degrees) capable of getting hydrogenated . Raney Nickel is therefore termed as non-specific catalyst.
